More than 90K lose power, 36K still out

Nearly 36,000 customers across Long Island and the Rockaways began Monday morning without power after PSEG-Long Island restored service to more than 55,000, according to the utility. PSEG Long Island said that more than 90,500 customers lost power due to the high winds and heavy rain that hit the region, although many have since had power restored.

Kings Park chain-reaction crash injures 2 drivers, police say

Two drivers suffered minor injuries in a chain-reaction crash in Kings Park on Wednesday that, as described by police, sounded more like a scene from a demolition derby. Suffolk County police said the crash began at 10:08 a.m. when a Volkswagen traveling eastbound on Route 25A collided with a tow truck making a left-hand turn out of a parking lot.
