Tropical disturbance could fuel big weekend rain storm in N.J.

Although the Atlantic hurricane basin has been relatively quiet in late October, a tropical disturbance brewing in the western Caribbean Sea this week could play a big role in how much rain falls in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region this weekend. The tropical disturbance, which has a 40 percent chance of strengthening into a named tropical storm during the next five days, is expected to send a plume of moisture from the Caribbean along the eastern seaboard on Saturday and Sunday.
