Drug maker paid doctor to prescribe fentanyl, AG says

NEWARK – Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino and the Division of Consumer Affairs last week announced that the State is seeking to revoke the license of a Warren County doctor who allegedly accepted more than $136,000 from a drug maker while indiscriminately prescribing the powerful fentanyl painkiller "Subsys" to patients who did not meet the federal criteria for receiving the highly addictive cancer pain medication.

Newton police blotter

On Oct. 18 at 10:21 p.m., Newton police responded to a noise complaint at a boarding house at 96 Main Street, Newton. Upon arrival, a female occupant of the reported apartment answered the door and was identified as Christina Gagliardi, age 33, of Brick, N.J. Gagliardi indicated that a male, who also had been present within the apartment, had fled from police by jumping out of a 2nd story window upon becoming aware of the presence of police.
